Can I apply to multiple places?

You want to apply to multiple places to increase your chances of renting.

Can I apply for multiple places at the same time?

Yes, absolutely! You can apply to as many available places as you like at the same time. There is no limit to the number of rental applications you can submit.

You will only be charged once when one of your pending applications is accepted, and your stay is confirmed. Until then, you can have multiple pending applications at the same time.

What happens when one of my applications is accepted?

Your stay will be confirmed for the place whose landlord accepts your application first. Once the booking is confirmed:

  • Your payment of the first month's rent and the one-time Tenant Protection fee (for accommodations outside of the Netherlands) will be processed automatically.

  • Any other pending rental applications you have submitted will be automatically cancelled.

  • The landlords of those other places will be informed and will no longer be able to accept those applications.

Here is an example:

Imagine you are interested in two places, A and B. You apply to rent A first and then apply to rent B.

If the landlord of B accepts your application first, your payment will be processed automatically, and your stay at B will be confirmed. At the same time, your pending application for A will be automatically cancelled, so the landlord of A will no longer be able to accept it.

Important: Applying to Rent is a commitment

A rental application is an official request to rent a place. By entering your payment details and submitting an application, you are committing to rent the place if the landlord accepts your application.

Once the landlord accepts, your payment will be processed, and your booking will be confirmed. For this reason, only apply to places you would genuinely be happy to rent.

What if I already have a confirmed booking?

Any new rental application submitted after you already have a confirmed booking is treated as a request to book additional accommodation.

It will not replace or cancel your existing booking. If the new application is accepted, it will be processed as a separate booking.

In short:

  • Before you have a confirmed booking: You can apply to multiple places. Once one application is accepted, your other pending applications are automatically cancelled.

  • After you have a confirmed booking: Any new application is treated as a separate booking and will not affect your existing booking.

What if I am not ready to book or do not want my payment to be processed automatically?

If you are still unsure whether you want to rent the accommodation, are considering other options, have questions about the property, or need more information from the advertiser, we recommend not submitting a rental application yet.

Instead, take some time to make sure the accommodation meets your needs and that you fully understand the rental conditions. You can contact the advertiser directly through the conversation on HousingAnywhere and ask any questions you may have. This gives you the opportunity to clarify any concerns or unclear details before making a decision.

Once you are satisfied with the information provided and are ready to commit to renting the accommodation, you can submit your rental application. Keep in mind that submitting an application is an official request to rent, and if the advertiser accepts it, your payment will be processed automatically, and your booking will be confirmed.
