VAT stands for value-added tax. It's a tax based on the consumption of goods and services that are commonly found in the EU and select other regions of the world.
VAT may be charged to tenants on their bookings (“VAT on bookings”) as well as to eligible advertisers on their paid advertiser fees ("VAT on advertiser fees”).
By providing a VAT ID to Housing Anywhere, you are establishing a business-to-business relationship between your business and Housing Anywhere. This status and your business location determine whether or not Housing Anywhere will charge VAT on advertiser fees.
For advertisers based in the Netherlands:
Housing Anywhere is required to charge VAT on applicable fees regardless of whether you’ve submitted a VAT ID to us.
For advertisers based in the EU (excluding Netherlands) and Norway:
Advertisers in these countries, who submit a valid VAT ID to Housing Anywhere, will not be charged VAT on advertiser fees.
For advertisers that have not provided a valid VAT ID:
If you have not supplied Housing Anywhere with a valid VAT ID, Housing Anywhere is required to charge VAT on applicable fees regardless of whether you’ve submitted a VAT ID to us. The same holds when an advertiser does not have a VAT ID, which is often the case for natural persons that are not operating as a business.
Will I receive an invoice from Housing Anywhere for VAT on advertiser fees?
Housing Anywhere provides downloadable invoices to advertisers who are charged with advertiser fees. These invoices will appear as soon as booking is concluded. You can find them in the Invoice section of your Payout Details.
Each invoice contains a summary of VAT-eligible fees (in the rent's currency). Invoices arrive as downloadable PDF in English.
