What are required documents?

Required documents are documents you might request from your tenants to verify one or more of the following:

  • Proof of identity

  • Proof of income (from the tenant or their sponsor)

  • Proof of enrollment or occupation

Due to GDPR guidelines, you can only request and use these documents to create a rental agreement. You must destroy the copies within 48 hours if the person won't be renting the property.

Note: Requiring tenants to submit these documents to make a booking could reduce the number of contact requests you receive.

How do I request documents?

There are 2 ways to ask tenants for documents:

1. Setting required documents when creating or editing a listing.

2. Requesting the documents from the Conversations page.

Setting required documents

To see the documents before you accept booking requests, you can set your list of required documents when creating or editing a listing.

Creating a listing

When creating a listing, you can set the required documents under the section 'Documents required to book'.

Editing a listing

When editing a listing, you can set the required documents by following these steps:

  1. Go to My Listings

  2. Click on the 3 dots in the right corner of the listing you want to edit.

  3. Click on Edit.

  4. Go to Booking terms. In the section 'Documents required to book', select the documents.

  5. Save your changes.

Applying to all listings

If you're always asking for the same documents for all your listings, you can save time and set this in the Manage all listing page.

Requesting the documents on the Conversations page

You can always ask tenants for documents on the Conversations page.

Where can the tenants see what documents are required?

The tenants can see your list of required documents on the Listing's Details page, under the section 'Documents required to book'.

When potential tenants send you the initial message, they will be asked to upload the required documents. At this point, they can skip this step. But they will need to upload your requested documents before sending you a booking request.

Note: You can still invite a tenant to book if they have not yet uploaded documents.

Viewing the documents shared with me

You can view the documents that have been shared with you in the conversations page in the log.

Why can't I set the required documents?

You can only set the required documents once you've verified your identity.
