When your booking is confirmed, you and the tenant will receive each other’s contact details. Until then, all messaging and payments must happen via HousingAnywhere, so we can step in and help if anything goes wrong.

Our policies protect against scams or last-minute cancellations, but they rely on us being able to view the full picture.

Pro tip: How messaging with HousingAnywhere increases bookings

Messaging only on HousingAnywhere also optimizes your response time and response rate.

A high response rate and a low response time make your profile look more trustworthy, which our data shows leads to more bookings. We also reward you for prompt responses. Staying on top of your messages makes your listings rank higher in our search results, so more people see your listing.

Did you try sharing contact details?

If you tried sharing contact details, don’t worry. Our system automatically detects these and hides them from your message. You’ll get a warning message advising you not to try this again.

By contact details, we mean things like email addresses, phone numbers, addresses, Facebook and Instagram handles, Skype names, and other contact methods.

What happens if I somehow share contact details?

If you somehow manage to share contact details, this may lead to additional charges, as per Section 4.8 of our Terms & Conditions.

HousingAnywhere, without prior notice, reserves the right at its own discretion to charge the price of the Booking Fee and remove or disable access of the User who posts, sends, publishes, or transmits any kind of personal contact that would lead the other party outside the Platform. (E.g., personal bank account, phone number, email, etc).

It’s a big, wild world out there — and we can only control so much. When you use HousingAnywhere to message and collect payments from tenants, you stay protected by our policies and secure payments system.
