Found a place you like? You can confirm your booking in two ways:
Apply to Rent – Send a rental application to the landlord, or
Accept a Rental Offer or a Custom Rental Offer – Accept an offer sent directly by the landlord.
Both options are safe, secure, and completed entirely through HousingAnywhere.
Apply to Rent a place
A rental application is an official request to rent a property. It is the fastest and most common way to book accommodation on HousingAnywhere. It is also financially binding once the request is accepted by the advertiser.
How does it work?
When you submit a rental application, you will be asked to provide your payment details and pre-authorise a future payment. This allows HousingAnywhere to process the payment immediately if the landlord accepts your application.
After you submit your application, the advertiser has 48 hours to accept or decline your request.
If the landlord accepts your application, your payment of the First Month's Rent and the one-time Tenant Protection fee (for accommodations outside of the Netherlands) will be processed automatically, and your booking will be confirmed.
If the landlord declines your application, or does not respond within 48 hours, your rental application will expire and will be automatically cancelled. You will not be charged anything.
Your payment details are secure
HousingAnywhere uses Stripe as its secure payment provider. Your payment details are encrypted and are never shared with the landlord.
After your booking is confirmed, your payment is securely held by HousingAnywhere in accordance with our Terms & Conditions. The first month's rent is transferred to the landlord 48 hours after your registered move-in date, providing an additional layer of protection during your move-in.
How do I apply to rent?
Open the listing you would like to rent.
Select Apply to Rent.
Complete the rental application.
Upload any documents requested by the landlord.
Add your payment details to pre-authorize the future payment.
Select Submit rental application.
The landlord will then review your application and respond within 48 hours.
Can I apply to multiple places?
Yes, you can submit rental applications for multiple places at the same time. If one of your applications is accepted and your booking is confirmed, all of your other active rental applications will be automatically cancelled.
Important: Any new rental application submitted after one of your bookings has already been confirmed will be treated as a request to book an additional accommodation. This means it will not replace or cancel your existing booking and will be processed as a separate booking if accepted.

Accept a Rental Offer or a Custom Rental Offer
If you have been communicating with a landlord through HousingAnywhere, they may decide to send you a Rental Offer instead of waiting for you to submit a rental application.
Once you receive a rental offer, you have 24 hours to decide whether you would like to proceed with the booking.
To accept the offer:
Select Confirm rental.
Enter your payment details.
Complete the payment.
Once your payment has been successfully processed, your booking will be confirmed. In most cases, this happens instantly.
What is the difference between a Rental Offer and a Custom Rental Offer?
A Rental Offer invites you to book the accommodation under the original listing conditions, without any changes.
A Custom Rental Offer is sent when the landlord needs to modify one or more booking details before confirmation, such as the move-in or move-out date, and/or rent. In both cases, you have 24 hours to review the offer, complete the payment, and confirm your booking.
What happens if I do not accept or decline a Rental Offer or Custom Rental Offer in time?
If you do not accept a Rental Offer or Custom Rental Offer within 24 hours, it will automatically expire. If you choose to decline the offer, it will be rejected immediately.
In both cases, you can continue your conversation with the landlord. If the accommodation is still available, you can either submit a new Apply to Rent request or ask the landlord to send you a new Rental Offer or Custom Rental Offer with the updated booking details, if needed.
