We're sorry to hear your visa was declined and that you're unable to move in. A booking cannot be canceled after it's confirmed unless the place is not as promised.

By sending a booking request, you committed to renting the place. If the landlord accepts a booking request, we are obliged to send them the money for the first month's rent, as they would have rejected other interested tenants to offer you the place. The first month's rent will compensate them for the now empty room.

However, you can explain your situation to the landlord and negotiate in good faith to see if they are willing to waive away their right to claim the first month's rent. Please remember that they are entitled to the money and are not obliged to say yes. If they agree to refund you, the HousingAnywhere Tenant Protection fee is non-refundable.

Please email support@housinganywhere.com if you are able to reach an agreement with the landlord so that we can take any necessary further steps.

Any questions? Please let us know.
