Verifying your email and mobile number (required)

To contact landlords, you’ll need to verify your email and mobile number.

Your email and mobile number are safe

Your contact details will only be shared with the landlord after a booking is confirmed. Why we hide contact details

Email verification

When you sign up, we’ll send an email with a verification link. Follow the instructions to verify your email. It only takes a second!

If you change your email in HousingAnywhere, you’ll need to verify it again.

Why verify your email?

  • You can’t continue without it.

  • To make sure your email belongs to you.

  • So you receive important emails related to your booking.

Mobile number verification

When you contact your first landlord, we’ll ask for your mobile number and verify it automatically behind the scenes.

Why verify your mobile?

  • To make sure your phone number is real.

  • So your future landlord can contact you by phone.

Verifying your identity (optional)

Verifying your ID is quick and easy. It’s done through Stripe, our secure identification partner, using a government-issued ID and a selfie.

After you verify, your verified photo ID will be shared with the landlord. We’ll always ask for consent before sharing your ID with anyone.

Why verify your identity

  • Helps landlords trust you.

  • Boosts your chances of renting on HousingAnywhere.

  • Some landlords may request it.

  • So everyone using HousingAnywhere is verified. We verify the IDs of all landlords.

What you’ll need to verify ID

Before starting, you’ll need:

Having trouble verifying your ID?

If Stripe can’t verify your identity

Our error messages will explain how best to fix your specific issue. In most cases, it’s an easy fix like cleaning your camera and taking a clearer selfie, or using a valid photo ID.

Still unable to verify?

If your ID was issued by an unsupported country or if you’re underage — upload your ID and share it directly with the landlord. While you won’t receive a Verified ID badge, sharing your photo ID directly is a great way to build trust with landlords.

To share your photo ID directly, click ‘Upload photo ID’.

To share your photo ID directly from your conversation page, click ‘Documents’.

What information landlords can see

Landlords can see if your email, mobile number, or ID is verified. If you verify your identity, landlords will be able to view your photo ID.

Your contact details (email and mobile number) are only shared with your landlord after you confirm a booking.

How we use and protect your information

Usage

We use your email and mobile number only for important rental-related updates. Our Customer Care team may call you if something urgent comes up.

Sharing

Your email and mobile number are only shared with your confirmed landlord.

Your ID is never shared unless you choose to provide it as a supporting document or verify it via Stripe.

Storage

We store your data for up to 12 months after your last use. In most cases, it’s deleted within 6 months of your move-out date or last login.

Stripe retains ID verification details for 3 years.

Need your data deleted?

Email dpo@housinganywhere.com, and we’ll handle your request promptly.
